About the uTalk Language Games

uTalk is a UK-based language learning company who believe that speaking just a few words in another language can help make the world a better, friendlier place. Our fantastic app helps people learn more than 2,500 useful words and phrases in each of our 150+ languages and works on almost any device! See our website for more details of the company and its language range.

For over 15 years, we’ve been running a national language competition for primary-aged children called the uTalk Junior Language Challenge, which, in November 2019 won the Threlford Cup. This is a prestigious award from the UK’s Chartered Institute of Linguists and is presented to an individual or organisation that has made a significant contribution to fostering the study of languages. It was presented by Prince Michael of Kent.

After the UK went into lockdown in spring 2020, we threw the competition open to people worldwide of all ages under the new name: uTalk Language Games.

This means, no matter where you are in the world, you can sign your class or school up and begin learning from September 2024. There are no age restrictions, either, so no problem if some of your pupils will be over the age of 11 by next July – they can still take part.

We look forward to welcoming you to this year’s uTalk Language Games!
